COSY THEATRE
“IN OLD MEXICO.” William Boyd, George Hayes and Russell Hayden, the familiar and wellliked saddlemates of many a “Hopalong Cassidy” outdoor action romance, return to the screen in a new Clarence E. Mulford thriller, Paramount’s “In Old Mexico,” which will be shown tonight at the Cosy Theatre. The story revolves about Cassidy’s campaign to avenge the murder of one of his closest friends, a wealthy ranch'er, and rout a gang of bandits who have been plaguing the untamed Mexican. cattle country. Weaving in and out of the drama is a romance between Hayden, who plays the spirited “Lucky,” and Jane Clayton, the beautiful new leading lady of the “Cassidy” films. A thrill-packed story written around an amazing shakedown racket —the transportation of fugitives-from-justice across state and national borders for exorbitant sums —is told in Paramount’s “Illegal Traffic,” the companion feature, with a fine cast of character players. J. Carrol Naish, playing the leader of a gangdom making its last stand, will be seen as the chief of a racket going on all over the nation today in spite of all the efforts of the Government to rout it. Naish meets his match in the person of Robert Preston, a slick G-man, who joins the gangsters as an airplane pilot and turns the tables on them in a smashing climax. Also screening is the sixth chapter of the outstanding serial.
