SOVIET & ITALY
EFFORT TO IMPROVE RELATIONS TRADE TALKS IN ROME. • MISSIONS FROM SLOVAKIA '& RUMANIA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. ROME, February 8. The Soviet Charge d'Affaires, M. Helfand, frequently conferred with the Foreign Minister, Count Ciano, in an effort to ease Italo-Russian relations. Trade representatives of the two Governments are discussing a commercial treaty to replace the agreement which lapsed on December 31. Italy is keen to import Russian naptha because the revaluation of the Rumanian currency has rendered Rumanian petrol too dear. A Slovak economic mission is arranging an agreement with Italy. A Rumanian delegation will shortly arrive in Rome with a similar objective.
