CENTRAL SCHOOL
COMMITTEE MEETING.
STAFF CHANGES. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Central School was held last night. Mr J. E. MeV. Calwell presiding, there being also present Messrs A. Newman. W. R. Nicol. C. J. Braggins, F. A. Wesney, A. V. Dixon, A. I. Gibbs, G. R. Beecroft, J H Cole The finance report was submitted and received and correspondence dealt with The Headmaster reported that the prize for the second to Dux of the school was presented by Mr H. E. Hither, and the secretary was directed to write a letter of appreciation and, thanks to Mr Pither for this generous gift. The Headmaster submitted a very satisfactory report regarding the reopening of the school on Tuesday last, showing a good increase of new pupils. A few children had moved out of the district, but with an increase of 56 at the Main School and four at the East School. 498. Side School 68. and Special Class 15, total 581. This is 12 more than at the same time last year. Changes in the staff are as follows: —Mr Clift has gone to the Taumarunui District High School, his place being temporarily filled by Mr Lane. Miss Farrell is filling Miss Hornerman’s place the latter being away on sick leave. Misses Hooper and Renner are two new probationary assistants. Miss Edge is a new Grade A teacher in charge of Standard IV. Miss Davie is temporary supernumerary assistant. Various requirements by the Headmaster were left in the hands of members of the committee to deal with. Messrs Newman, Nicol and Gibbs were appointed visiting members for the ensuing month.
