CHAMBERLAIN’S WISH
MEETING OF SUPREME WAR COUNCIL FACTS OF GREAT INTEREST.
NECESSARILY HELD SECRET. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, February 8. In his House of Commons statement the Prime Minister, Mr Neville Chamberlain. said there were so few events of importance to record that, he wishes he could lighten the darkness about the Supreme War Council meeting in Paris cn Monday last and give the House an account of the proceedings, but none would desire him to be guilty of the folly of making such a generous gift to the enemy. Mr Chamberlain said: ”1 have the impression that, as the weeks pass, the council is steadily growing in import-; ance and will become not merely a convenient means of harmonising the views of the two Governments but a vital instrument in the successful prosecution of the war.”
