COLLEGE PIPE BAND
TRIBUTES PAID AT SOCIAL GATHERING. ACHIEVEMENTS AT DOMINION CONTEST. The Assembly Hall of the Wairarapa College was the scene of a highly successful function last night, when the Pipe Band of the College was tendered a complimentary social gathering and dance by the College. Members of the Board of Governors, parents of band members, the staff and ex-pupils joined with present pupils in honouring the achievements of the band. At suitable intervals eulogistic reference was macle to the work of Major Bird, Pipe-Major Murdo McKenzie, and the boys, by Mr W. R. Nicol, chairman of the Board of Governors, and by Mr G. G. Hancox, Principal of the College. Major Bird, in reply, paid a tribute to the spirit of the boys and thanked Messrs lan Camcron and Graham Dickel for services to the band. During the evening selections from the recent Dominion Contest music were played by the band and were warmly applauded. The arrangements for the excellent supper were in the hands of Miss J. Irvine. Home Science mistress tfficl girls of her department, and Mr Ken McFarlane ably acted as M.C.
