STORMY WEATHER TORRENTIAL RAIN. ("Times-Age” Special.) For the past fortnight Eketahuna has experienced north-westerly winds accompanied by rain. On Tuesday evening the wind increased to gale force and a wild night followed. Yesterday the whole district was swept by the gale, and heaw rain squalls. Last night conditions were again stormy and rain fell in torrents. This morning parts ol the town were without electric power for some hours. The gale continues with unabated force. Damage has been done to orchards and fences have been blown down. EKETAHUNA BUTTER SUCCESSES AT SHOW. In the butter section at the Dannevirke Show on Tuesday, the Eketahuna Dairy Company was first in the Box of Export Butter class, and also won first prize for three pounds ol fresh factory butter made up in pate. The manager (Mr G. McWhirter) and staff are to be congratulated on the success achieved.
WEDDING McCulloch—davidson. The marriage was solemnised recently at the Kelburn Presbyterian Church of Miss Marjory Jessie Davidson, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Davidson, Nireaha, and Mr Thomas McCulloch, third son of Mrs McCulloch and the late Mr McCulloch. Liverpool, England. The Rev. A. L. Dixon was the officiating clergyman.
ST. CUTHBERT’S CHURCH ANNUAL GARDEN PARTY. The annual garden party in connection with St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church will be held in the grounds of Mr A. H. Herbert’s residence on Saturday afternoon. The official opening will be performed by his Lordship, the Bishop of Wellington, at 3 o’clock. Ice cream, afternoon tea, fruit salad and soft drinks may be obtained at the party, and there will be a programme of interesting events including a baby show, sheep weight judging, chain stepping and darts. Complete arrangements have been made for the garden party and those who attend are assured of an enjoyable time.
Personal Items. Mrs E. Coster, Stanley Street, is visiting Wellington. Mrs K. Kendall and her son. Alan, left for Christchurch on Monday. Mr and Mrs J. Berney are spending a few days at Levin beach. Mrs B. Donc-y, Stanley Street, is a visitor to Napier. Mr Bert Dumbleton has entered the Pahiatua Hospital for treatment. Mr C. Fafeita, of Newman, is indisposed and confined to his house.
