FEATHERSTON

HAUNUI CROQUET CLUB COMPETITION RESULTS. ("Times-Age" Special.) The Haunui Croquet Club held two half-hour competitions yesterday,- the results being as follow: A grade, Mrs Carlyon 1. Mrs Nix 2. B grade. Mrs Rasmussen 1, Mrs Davis 2. There was a good attendance at the Anzac Hall on Tuesday night when the Haunui Club held a euchre tournament. The winners were: Ladies, Mrs Wilson 1, Mrs R. Fuge 2. Men, Mr Rewai 1, Mr Hyland 2. FIRE BRIGADE MONTHLY MEETING. At the meeting of the Fire Brigade Supt. Tidswell presided over a good attendance of members. A vote of condolence with the relatives of. the late Kelvin Peter Habib was passed. An invitation was received from the Lower Hutt Fire Brigade for members to attend their annual reunion. The U.F.B.A. and the U.D.F.B.A. forwarded nomination papers, and itwas decided to nominate Deputy-Supt. W. Boston for the position of vicepresident, a position which he is occupying now. Foreman P. Habib, who has been appointed delegate to the U.F.B.A. conference to be held at Petone, was given a free hand to deal with any business brought before the conference. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to donors to the Brigade’s funds, viz., Miss E. B. Viles, Messrs J- Murphy and Ted Neale. Fireman R. O’Keefe, who is now custodian, was appointed second motorman. Tom McKenna was nominated for the position of messenger. It was decided to forego the annual picnic this year owing to the petrol restrictions and the unsettled state of affairs. Applications for 2-year silver bars were received from Deputy-Supt. Boston and Fireman Davidson. BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. The following are further results in connection with the Featherston Club's championships:— * Singles: H. R. Bloxam beat James, 25/12. Pairs: Davis and Deas (s) beat Rowles and O’Neale (s) 25/11; Fuge and Rolls (s) beat Robinson and McNamara (s) 18/17.
