CENTENNIAL SPORTS —/ — TO EE HELD ON EASTER MONDAY. ("Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting oi the Eketahuna Athletic Club's committee last night it was decided to hold the postponed Centennial Sports on Easter Monday. A competition in aid of the club’s funds was won by Mrs F. West, Ekc.ahuna. Personal Items. Miss Brown and Miss Jean Hottentot. Wellington, are staying at Liverpool House. Mr and Mrs S. Gallagher and .theii daughter Joan, of Auckland, were the guests of Mr and Mrs R. Gallagher foi the weekend. Mrs Hagen, dental nurse, has resumed her duties. The many friends of Mr Ben Morriss, Rongckokako, will regret to learn that he has had to enter the Pahiatua Hospital for treatment. Mr , Don Thompson has been appointed Eketahuna agent for Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., in succession to Mr J. Tredray, who entered camp on Thursday last.
A visitor to Eketahuna on Friday las was Mr Charles Gray, who for manj years was the constable here. Just after the commencement of the Great War Mr Gray was transferred to Stratford where he later retired from the force. He was a member of the Armed Constabulary which took part in the Maori War in Taranaki. At the conclusion of hostilities, the Government ol the day gave the men taking part the option of either accepting a lump sum or a section of land for their services Mr Gray choose the latter and at present is in occupation of the land. Mr Gray, now nearly ninety years of age, is hale and hearty. He spent the day in visiting old friends.
