SOLWAY RAINFALL. FIGURES FOR JANUARY. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 11 days in January, the maximum fall being 115 points on the 14th, and the minimum 2 points on the 22nd. The total for the month was 2.36 inches, as against .58 (1939). 4.67 (1938), 4.37 (1937), 4.57 (1936), .75 (1935). The January average for 37 years is 2.59 inches. Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph. 29.93. Shade temperature: Maximum 78.2, minimum 56.1, terrestrial 49.5.
