The ‘'Star of India” (leading Moslem newspaper) says that the Viceroy, the Marquess of Linlithgow, when he meets Mahatma Gandhi on Monday will offer dominion status for India after the war. with Britain retaining control of defence for 30 years. Statutory committees will be suggested for each province to safeguard the minorities.

Britain’s condition is that the Congress Governments which have resigned should return to office immediately and co-operate in the war effort.
