FIRE IN SYDNEY

MUSIC EMPORIUM GUTTED. BIG BLAZE TN GEORGE STREET By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY, February 4. Nicholson's music emporium, in the heart of George Street, Sydney, was gutted by fire early this morning. A large stock of pianos, pianolas, radios, band equipment and sheet music was ruined. Five floors were reduced to ashes, the damage being estimated at more than £ 100,000. The fire spread to Hordern Brothers' department store adjoining, but was subdued by automatic sprinklers, which caused heavy damage in the dress and manchester departments. The brigades had the fire under control after four hours of strenuous and hazardous work.
