SOLWAY-MANAIA.

MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS.

(“Times-Age” Special.)

A meeting of the Solway-Manaia Women's Institute was held on Thursday last. Mrs Munn (president) welcomed visitors and members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Aplin, Church, Webber, Groombridge, Catherall, Scrivener. McMichael and Miss McAllister. It was decided that the next committee meeting be held on February 8. Mrs Munn was accorded a vote of thanks for her demonstration on tea cosies.

The competitions resulted as follows: —Lady’s spray: Mrs Munn. 1; Mrs Scrivener, 2. Men’s buttonhole: Mrs Scrivener, 1 and 2. Fruit squares: Mrs Woollett, 1. Chocolate cake: Mrs Woollett, 1. Another competition resulted: Mrs Munn, 1; Mrs Scrivener, 2; Mrs Calton, 3. The hostesses for March will be Mesdames Copp, Church, Doggett, and Davies.

The March programme will be: — Sewing, Centennial needlework; cooking, rock cakes; flowers, aster or best bloom; roll call, a surprise.
