JOHNSONVILLE SALE. CATTLE VALUES 'DOWN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A large yarding of bullocks, a small yardings of cows and heifers and a large yarding of vealers were offered by Wright,, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., at the sale conducted in Johnsonville yesterday. Extra prime heavy bullocks met with good competition prices showing little alteration on those ruling last week. Mediumweight bullocks were easier by 10s a head, and lightweights were down by 10s to 15s a head. All classes of cows and heifers showed an easing tendency of 5s to 10s a head. Vealers met with a ready sale, with little alteration in prices.
The wether yarding was large, the ewe yarding small and the lamb yarding average. All classes met with a good sale at prices firm on last week’s. The demand for heavyweight ewes was good, though mediumweight sheep were not sought. Light and unfinished ewes were hard to quit. Extra prime heavy lambs met with a good, sale at prices Gd to Is firmer than those of a week ago. Prices are: —
Cattle: Prime extra heavy bullocks, ’£l4 to £l3 12s, prime heavy, £l3 5s to £l2 15s. heavy £l2 10s to £l2, light and unfinished, £ll 10s to £10; extra prime heavy cows and heifers. £8 5s to £7 10s, prime heavy, £7 Gs to £6 18s, cows and heifers, £6 to £5 10s; runners and vealers, £3 5s to £2, small calves, £1 7s to £1; ex-dairy cows. £4 5s to £2 10s.
Sheep: Prime extra heavy wethers, £1 6s to £1 ss, prime heavy, £1 4s 6d to £1 3s, medium, £1 2s 6d to 18s 6d; prime extra heavy ewes, £1 to 18s 6d. prime heavy 17s 6d to 17s, medium. 16s 3d to 14s; heavy spring lambs. 25s to 22s 6d, medium 21s 6d to IGs 9d. light, 15s Gd to 12s.
ADDINGTON PRICES. GOOD DEMAND FOR FAT SHEEP. CHRISTCHURCH, January 31. Approximately 21,000 head of sheep, including 12,000 store lambs, were forward at the Addington stock sale today. The entry was the largest .this season. Prices for store lambs, which had been increasing over successive weeks, were easier today by a good Is a head. A few of the best lines made from 18s to 20s. Four, six and eighttooth Romney ewes sold at 28s lOd, and a good draft of station four-year halfbreds at 21s. Two thousand five hundred fat lambs were penned and sold at the top of the export schedule and up to 9d for butchers’ lots. The penning of fat sheep totalled 4750, and a good sale for the best sorts resulted. Best wethers made from 28s to 31s, with the tops to 335. and light down to
18s and best owes from 24s to 265, will) the tops to 295, and export ewes from Ils to IGs. Exporters were actively in the market for - ewes and took a good proportion. Fat cattle recovered on last week's decline of up to 20s a head. Good steers sold at from £l6 10s to £lB, with the tops at from £l9 to £l9 17s Gd. mediums £l3 to £l5 10s. and light down to £B. Good heifers sold at up to £l3, with the tops to £l4 12s 6d. and best cows averaged from £lO 10s to £l4. A big proportion of the inferior lots sold at from £5 to £6.

MASTERTON SALE. PRICES FIRM. There was a good yarding of store lambs and wethers at the Masterton sale yesterday. Prices were firm on last week’s yardings: — Fat sheep: Wethers. 19s io 21s 9d; fat Downs. 13s to 22s 9d; fat ewes. 13s to 16s; fat lambs, 19s to 225. Store sheep: B.F. lambs (good). 16s Gd to 19s; medium. lOs'to 14s; woolly wether lambs. 13s lid to 15s 3d; woolly wether lambs (culD. 2s to 5s 7d: ewe lambs (medium to good), 15s 8d to 18s 7d; 2-th. wethers (good). 15s 6d to 16s; 2-th. wethers (small). Ils 6d; 4-th. wethers (medium), 17s Id; store ewes, 3s Set to 6s; fattening ewes. 7s to 10s.
