ROTARY CLUB

FIRST MEETING OF YEAR.

ADDRESS BY MR C. MEACHEN.

The 'first meeting in 1940 of the Masterton Rotary Club was held in Masterton today when the usual luncheon was held. Rotarian P. F. Fagan presided. in the absence of the President. Mr J. J. Hunter, over a good attendance.

Sir Herbert Hart was the guest of the club. Hearty congratulations were accorded to Archdeacon E. J. Rich and Rotarian F. M. Whyte, the congratulations to the latter being in connection with the successes of the Wairarapa College Pipe Band at the New Zealand contest.

The speaker for the day was Mr C. Meachen, secretary of (he St John Ambulance Association, and a member of the executive councils of the New Zealand Crippled Children’s Society and Otaki Health Camp. Mr Meachen spoke on the commercial side of first aid. and on the motion of Rotarian E. M. Hodder was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his interesting and informative address.
