Thp Naval Affairs Committee, has tentatively approved a two years' construction programme of 665.000.000 dollars instead of 1.300,000.000 for six years, as previously urged. The committee made a further cut in the 800.000,000 dollars two years' programme, revised by Congressman Vinson (chairman of the Naval Affairs Committee). Congressman Vinson said the limited programme was all the Navy could build in Iwo years. The committee agreed to the limitation not hampering naval expansion. The Bill cuts the tonnage under the proposed expansion from 218.000 tons to 167.000 tons. The tonnage is distributed as follows: Aircraft carriers, 79.500: cruisers. 66,500; submarines. 21.000. The aircraft proposed number 1500.
