WEDDING
PRENDERGAST-KNIGHT—BOOTH The wedding took place in St Mark’s Church. Carterton. on Saturday last of Noel Catherine, only daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Howard Booth, of Carrington. Carterton. and granddaughter of the late Rev William Booth, and Charles James, only son of Dr and Mrs C. Prendergast-Knight, of "Moy." Masterton. and grand nephew of the late Sir James Prendergast. The Rev W. F. Stent, Vicar, officiated, and the church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. The bride entered the church escorted by her father, and was most becomingly frocked in a gown of ivory satin, cut on simple lines, the skirt continuing in a long train. With il was worn a French tulle veil extending the full length of the train. Her coronet of orange blossom was the same as worn by her mother, while her bouquet consisted of a sheaf of white gladioli. Miss Nancy Morrison, of Awatoitoi, Masterton, cousin of the bride, was chief bridesmaid, and Mrs Jocelyn Nairn (sister of the bridegroom) also of Masterton, was matron-of-honour. They were frocked in sky-blue ninon over taffeta of the same shade, square necked bodice, and full skirts touching the ground.
Three small children, Jane White, Beverley Bunny and Harry Little (the last two being the bride’s godchildren) also attended. The two tiny girls wore frocks of the same material and cut as the older ones, while Harry Little wore a Fauntleroy suit of ivory satin. The two older attendants carried shower bouquets of pink carnations and roses, and the smaller girls dainty posies. Lieut. lan Salmond, of the Air Force, Blenheim, was best man, and Mr Frederick Skeet. of Masterton, acted as groomsman. After the ceremony at the church an adjournment was made to "Carrington,’’ where the house had been most artistically decorated and made a charming setting for the wedding group.. Bowls of hydrangeas, roses and zinnias were effectively arranged, while immediately outside the gardens were a mass of glorious blooms. Mrs Booth received her guests in a frock of organza in pastel shades, and navy hat. Mrs R. A. Douglas (Invercargill), sister of Mrs Booth, was becomingly gowned in navy and grey sheer. Mrs C. Prendergast-Knight wore a navy lace frock, with hat to match.
The toasts usual to such an occasion were appropriately proposed and duly honoured, and later in the afternoon Mr and Mrs C. J. Prendergast-Knight left on a tour northwards! The bride travelled in a dove-grey jersey sheer frock, with short sleeves 'and a turban cap of the same material.
