“DISMISSAL” Of-' BRITISH WING-COMMANDER. AIR MINISTRY’S DENIAL. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m) RUGBY, January 28. The German Trans-Ocean News Service of January 27 contained a report relating to the dismissal from the service of Wing-Commander J. C. P. Wood and references to what are described as rumours prevalent in London that Wing-Commander Wood, had been dismissed from the service, "because he failed to carry out ordered action in Heligoland Bight, breaking off nis flight prematurely but submitting nev ertheless on his return a report claiming successes which turned out to b; untrue later when other Air Force officers were questioned.”
Inquiries at the Air Ministry dis closed complete ignorance of the alleged rumours and also the fact that Wing-Commander Wood took no parin any such action as described.
