WILDING SHIELD. CONVINCING WIN FOR CANTERBURY. (By Telegraph—Press Asoclation.) CHRISTCHURCH. January 27. Canterbury retains the Anthony Wilding Memorial Shield for another year. Tiie tennis at Wilding Park this afternoon was again of a high standard and although it was not long before Canterbury had clinched the conies, t the games were fast and interesting. Canterbury won 10 of the 12 matches, losing only one single and one double. They won 21 sets and 6uo games to Wellington’s 7 sets and 10G games. A feature of the encounter was the defeat of N. V. Edwards. New Zealand champion, by the Canterbury player A. I). Brown. Results:— Singles: 11. A. Barnett, beat R. Howe. 6-4. ;f.6. 6-5: R. C. Pattinson lost to R. McKenzie. 1-6. 7-6. 2-6: C. Angas beat D. G. France. 6-1. 6-2: A. D. Brown beat N. Y. Edwards. 5-7. 6-4. 6-1. Doubles: Pattinson and Barnett beat Hower and McKenzie. 6-3. 6-0; Brown and Angas beat Edwards and France, 6-2 6-2.'
