The Wairarapa Pipe Band is to be congratulated on its meritorious win, which is not only a tribute to their allround skill, but to the perseverance which has been displayed by the boys in attending practices, and at every possible opportunity striving to improve their playing and marching. Those who have been responsible for training the band will realise that their efforts have been well worth while for the boys have reciprocated by winnings the highest possible honours in their class. In the course of an address at the conclusion of the competitions on Saturday, the Hon P. Fraser extended his heartiest congratulations to the Wairarapa College Pipe Band. He stated that he was particularly proud of the achievement of Hie College band as he was deeply interested in its doings, having many times visited the College and heard them playing. Masterton should be proud of its splendid band, and he hoped that it would achieve further successes in the near future. In the military and two-step the band secured more points than the champion A grade winner. A deputation is to wait on the Mayor of Masterton to suggest that a civic reception be accorded the band.
