ALLEGED PLOT
TO ASSASSINATE AMERICAN AMBASSADOR PRECAUTIONS BY JAPANESE. ALLEGATIONS AGAINST CHINESE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, January 25. The United Press of America’s Shanghai correspondent reports that a Japanese military spokesman said extraordinary precautionary measures are being taken to assure the safety of the United States Ambassador. Mr Johnson, following upon the discovery of a Chinese plot to assassinate him in Japanese controlled territory and thus cause a crisis in Japanese-American relations. Mr Johnson at present is aboard the United States gunboat Luzon on the Yangtze River.
