CENTENARY TO BE MARKED
(By Telegraph*—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day.
To' mark the centenary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi the New Zealand Founders’ Society will hold gatherings in Wellington. On the evening of February 6 a reception for members and friends is to be held at the Majestic Cabaret, with a minimum of set items and maximum facilities for personal contacts. There will also be supper and dancing. On the following day from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a conference of members and a luncheon (for members only), both to be held in the National Art Gallery building. There will also be a 5 o’clock party for members and friends.
The society announces in its invitation that Tuesday, February 6, is being observed in the United Kingdom as “New Zealand Day.” The executive of the society is desirous of securing a complete list of members, or close relatives of members, who are proceeding overseas for service in the army, navy, or air force, as it is felt that special interest should be taken in those serving with the forces.
In the course of a notice to members the executive expresses the wish that all members of the. society should sign the National Centennial Roll of Commemoration at the Exhibition, as this volume is subsequently to be bound and placed in. the Dominion Museum.
