WIN FOR WANGANUI. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. For the first time since the Cornwell Cup contest was inaugurated Wanganui was successful in gaining the trophy, when it won its third race in the present contests at Evans Bay yesterday. The crew, B. Armitt and C. Armitt, who are twins, have taken part in the contest three times, but have not had much success previously. At the conclusion of Thursday’s racing Wanganui had two wins. Auckland two wins, and Christchurch. Wellington and Otago one win each. Wanganui crossed the line first, followed by Christchurch and Otago, with the others in a bunch.
