WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION COMPETITIONS GAWITH SHIELD CONTEST. WIN FOR MEMORIAL. In a Gawith Shield match Memorial defeated Martinborough on Saturday by 15 matches. 22 sets. .185 games to 4 matches, 3 sets, 153 games. The match was played at Martinborough and owing to rain in the latter part of the day only one combined doubles match was played. As Memorial had a clear cut margin the issue was not in doubt. B GRADE MEMORIAL BEAT CARTERTON. Playing on the Carterton Bowling Green courts on Saturday the Masterton Memorial tennis team defeated Carterton in a B grade match by 46 games to 32. The afternoon was not a good one for tennis as a fairly strong wind was blowing. Following are the results, Masterton mentioned first in every instance: — Men’s singles: M. Syron lost to C. K.
