GERMAN BUOY
DELIVERY TO ICELAND PERMITTED LIFE-SAVING MATERIAL. CONTRAST WITH ENEMY METHODS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY, January 14. Tlie Ministry of Economic Warfare announced today: "The Enemy Expoits Committee has given permission for Hie delivery of a light and whistle buoy of Gorman manufacture ordered by Hie Icelandic authorities." The decision to allow passage of this life-saving material accords with Hie Committee’s policy of not interfering with the humanitarian activities on which civilised life is based. It will be remembered that German airmen three days ago attacked a lighthouse tender while she was conveying relief crews to light vessels of! Hie East Coast. Referring to the incident a correspondent in Fridays •Times" contrasted the attitude of King Louis XIV. with whom we were at war in the eighteenth century, when bis men captured some British lighthouse men. The King ordered llieir release saying: “Their work is for Hie benefit of all. nations. 1 am at war with England, not with humanity."
