The Associated Press of America’s Santos (Brazil) correspondent says the German liner Windhuk departed last night, but returned hastily. It is reported that the Windhuk was chased by H.M.S. Achilles. NOT IN ACTION AGAINST GERMAN WARSHIPS. AN ADMIRALTY DENIAL. (Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, Janaury 12. The Admiralty deny reports that H.M.S. Achilles was in action against German warships off Brazil. Nothing is known of any German warships in the neighbourhood.
