FINNISH TACTICS
NEW ENCIRCLEMENTS BEING ATTEMPTED FLANKS OF ENEMY FORCE BATTERED. SKI PATROLS DAMAGE SUPPLY LINES. HELSINKI, January 11. The Finns, attempting new encirclements of the Russian forces on two fronts, have marooned 15,000 to 20,000 men in the Salla area and are battering the flanks of a larger force in the Loimola sector, where ski patrols already have damaged the supply lines. The nissians are reported to have dispatched 35,000 to 40,000 reinforcements from Kandalaksha to Salla, but the foremost troops are wedged in between Finnish forces and, in view of this, it is most likely that the Russians will suffer yet another severe defeat.
