FEILDING SALE, PRICES FOR GOOD WETHER LAMBS FIRM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, Janaury 12. A substantial yarding of about 14,000 head of sheep was offered at Feilding today, practically the whole of the' store entry being wether lambs. Prices for good sorts were firm, but backward lots were not wanted. Fat sheep: Erratic pices prevailed in the mutton section, the top quality lines being worth the money paid, though inferior grades hardly came up to the values ruling. Extra prime wethers made 24s to 25s 7d; prime 22s to 23s 7d; unfinished, 19s to 21s 7d; prime quality ewes, 14s 8d to 15s 8d; second grade. 13s to 14s 3d; unfinished 10s lOd to 12s 3d; extra prime maiden ewes. 23s Gd; prime lambs, 19s to 20s 2d; lighter, 16s 9d to 18s Gd. Store sheep: Competition for the top quality lines in this section was keen, but for the lots in backward order the sale was quiet. The clearance, however, was very good, having regard to the preponderance of wether lambs. First quality wether lambs made 17s 2d to 18s; medium lines, 14s 6d to 16s 3d; backward to small. 8s 3d to 13s 6d; good b.f. lambs, 15s 4d; smaller, 8s lOd to 13s lOd; small b.f. ewes, Ils 9d to 13s 6d; good two-tooth ewes, 295. Store cattle: A fairly heavy yarding of run cattle was on offer, but the unsold lines were more numerous than those sold mainly because of high reserve prices. Good three-year A.A. steers made £7 15s; best 24-y.ear A.A. heifers, £5 8s; small. £3 9s; good yearling A.A. heifers, £2 15s; small, £1 16s; boner cows, heavy, £3 to £3 10s; others, £1 2s 6d to £2 17s 6d; potter bulls, £1 2s Gd to £2 17s Gd; potter calves, £4.
Dairy cattle: Not many head of dairy stock were offered, and prices were at unchanged rates. Best springing heifers made £6 to £8 2s 6d; backward, from £3; springing cows, £4 7s 6d to £5; cows in milk, £4 to £5 10s. Fat cattle: Best quality beef was bought at brisk competition, but unfinished material was low in price. Prime quality A.A. cows made £7 to £7 7s; second grade, £6 to £6 15s; ex.dairy cows, £3 5s to £5 15s; prime A.A. heifers, £7 17s 6d to £8 15s; second quality, £6 15s to £7 10s; light, £3 12s 6d to £5 17s 6d; runners, £1 5s to £2 14s; light bullocks, £8 12s. Pigs: As usual pigs .were in keen demand at high prices. Weaners, good, made 14s 6d to 15s 6d; small, from 5s 6d; slips, 18s Gd; stores, 20s to 21s; porkers, £1 7s to £2 Is.
