BAD DAY FOR BOWLERS
AT NEW ZEALAND TOURNEV WIND AT HALF GALE FORCE. SECTION PLAY IN RINKS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Bowlers competing in the Nev; Zealand rinks championship today had to contend with a northerly wind with gusts.of half-gale force. As a result the standard of play suffered. Section play in the rinks will occupy four days, two games of twenty-five ends being played each day. Post section play will be on the automatic two-life system. The entries total 172. Robertson, H. Franks, Benson, and W. C. Franks, of Balmoral, Auckland, are not defending their title, but the skips of previous champion rinks who are competing this year are Haworth (Canterbury), Wilson (Linwood), Whittle (Grey Lynn), Bremner (West End, Auckland), Deare (Carlton, Auckland), Pilkington (Hamilton) and Naylor (Hataitai).
