BOWLING

CENTENNIAL TOURNEY PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP. EIGHT LEFT TO PLAY OFF. (By Telegraph—Press Asociation.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Play in the pairs championship at the Dominion bowling tournament was continued in Wellington yesterday and the field of 67 which commenced in the post-section series was narrowed down to eight. The finalists are Bremner (West End. Auckland); H. Dickson (Thorndon). J. B. Lawrie (Island Bay). C. Spearman (Sydenham). R. A. Barnsdale (Christchurch). P. McWhannell (Hataitai), A. C. Cullen (Thorndon) and J. B. Reid (Lyall Bay). They will play off in the order mentioned as players become available following the fours championship. Wellington clubs, already holders of five pairs championships, qualified for the concluding rounds with five representative pairs, two coming from the Thorndon Club which scored its only victory in 1916.
