SOME CALENDAR FACTS.
TWO FRIDAYS FALL ON 13th
Two clays on which Friday occurs as the thirtenth of the month, and the falling of five public holidays on Mondays are revealed by a perusal of the calendar for 1940.
In September and December the thirteenth day falls on a Friday, thus becoming, according to superstition, doubly unlucky. New Year’s Day, as the first day of the year, ushers in four other public holidays on Mondays. The Anniversary Day for the Wellington Province falls on Monday. January 22, Easter Monday is on March 25, the King’s Day, celebrated on the first Monday in June in New Zealand under law. is on June 3. the day of the real birthday of the late King George V„ and Labour Day. October 28, is a Monday. Summer time ends for this summer on April 27, and begins again on September 22. The change of half an hour takes place at 2 a.m. on each of those two days. Holidays other than on Mondays are the day after New Year’s Day (a Tuesday), Good Friday on March 22, Holy Saturday on March 23, Anzac Day (which falls on a Thursday) on April 25, Christmas Day (a Wednesday), and Boxing Day (a Thursday). Although five public holidays are on. Mondays, five others are on different days, being Tuesday, Friday. Saturday. Thursday, Wednesday. Bank holidays are St. Patrick’s Day. Easter Tuesday, St. George’s and St. David's Day. Dominion Day and St. Andrew's Day. Two of these. St. George's and St. David's Day, April 23 and Easter Tuesday. March 26, are Tuesdays. St. Patrick's Day. March 17. is a Sunday. Dominion Day. September 23. is a Monday, and St. Andrew's Day. November 30. is a Saturday.
