WOOL RATIONING

SUGGESTED IN BRITAIN SCARCITY IN SIGHT. POSSIBILITY OF STANDARD SUITS. LONDON, Janaury 9. Several of the morning newspapers forecast that rationing eventually will be extended to clothing materials. Standard suits may be designed for men and women containing a specified percentage of wool, or silk. The Director-General of Equipment and Supplies at the Ministry of Supply, Lord Woolton, said, “The demands for the fighting forces will be very heavy in the next six months. I think much can be said for a restricted range of clothes if it is necessary to curtail the amount of wool to be used for civilian purposes.” Leeds manufacturers are quoted as saying that wool might be scarce in 1941. The Yorkshire Press recently indicated that there is some anxiety, about future supplies.
