“MY DEAR'MISS ALDRICH." Another outstanding Metro-Goldwyn presentation marks the popular “family” nights at the Cosy Theatre. Whatever’ the views one may hold as to the equality of men and women in the world outside the home, “My Dear Miss Aldrich” at the Cosy Theatre, will amuse you. It makes no effort to instruct. Produced at the Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer studio, this clever comedy features Edna May Oliver, Maureen O’Sullivan and Walter Pidgeon, formerly of Broadway. Miss O’Sullivan has just been chosen to appear in London with Robert Taylor -in “A Yank at Oxford.” Pidgeon has been signed to a long-term contract with Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer. “My Dear Miss Aldrich” was directed by George Seitz. The cast is uniformly good. Edna May Oliver, as a puzzle addict, is seen in' the most amusing role of her career. Others who score include J. Farrell MacDonald as a city, editor; Janet Beecher as a militant feminist; Rita Johnson, Roger Converse, Brent Sargent, Charles Waldron, Guinn Williams and Paul Harvey. The associate feature, “The Last Gangster,” is a thriller of unforgettable power and features a mighty cast, headed by Edward G. Robinson, James Stewart, Rose Stradner, Lionel Standee and others. A tense story of an American Public Enemy and how he lived ten years behind prison walls, it grips the imagination more than most pictures. Probably suggested by the life of the notorious Al Capone it is startling in its realism and is acted with supreme artistry. No greater value could be offered than this bril-' liant programme.
