GIRL GUIDES

CAMP AT UPPER PLAIN. BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS. Thirty sun-tanned, healthy-looking youngsters are under canvas in beautiful surroundings on the property of Mr ' G. H. Perry, Upper Plain, where Girl Guides drawn from the Northland Wellington. Petone and Eastbourne troops are in camp. The camp site is admirably suited for the purpose, and when visited this morning by a “Times-Age” reporter, presented a neat, tidy appearance under the sheltering native bush. The camp, as is usually the case, is run entirely by the Guides, who are divided up into patrols, and work as a unit. The general camp programme is: Reveille at 7 a.m.. prayers at 7.50, breakfast at 8. with a free period, followed by patrol duties, and the Court of Honour, where the patrol leaders discuss the work of the camp and general routine matters. Dinner at 12.30 o’clock, followed by rest periods completes the afternoon’s programme. Tea is provided at 6 o’clock, followed by a camp fire entertainment, with lights out at 9 o’clock. General camp training and camp lore is being thoroughly dealt with. The inter-change system of the patrols for the routine work of'the camp is working smoothly. The camp fire sing-songs are thoroughly enjoyed by the Guides, and when the camp is struck on Monday, it is understood that a large number of them will attend the camp at Tauherenikau next week.
