King Carol, in a speech at ti big military parade 12 miles from the Russian .frontier of Bessarabia (north-eastern province of Rumania), warned the Soviet Union that Rumania would resist as one living wall if the Communists attempted ;m invasion . “Bessarabia will always remain Rumanian by force of our arms,” he said. It was King Carol’s first visit to Bessarabia since his accession. The Russian. Ukrainian and German minority leaders swore allegiance to him. The Rumanian Naval authorities have ordered the liner Bessarabia, which was cn route here from Istanbul to return to Turkey on account of Russian fleet manoeuvres, which it is stated are unusual in the area close to the sea route from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean.
