Mr A. T. Elliott, Hamilton, is at the Hotel Midland, Masterton.
Dr. Myrams, Christchurch, stayed at the Hotel Midland, Masterton, during the weekend. The death occurred at Khandallah recently of Mr Edward Meek, a wellknown architect, at the age of 82. Mr. N. A. Mitchell, Dunedin, a former All Black captain, has taken up a position with the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company at Timaru’. The following judges have accepted office for the Pahiatua A. and P. Show: Horses and competitions, Mr. F. C. F. McKay, Rongotea; Jerseys, Mr. A. Montgomerie, Kauwhata, Palmerston North; dairy cattle, Mr. E. W. Leach, Te Rehunga; clog trial, Mr. J. S. Tait, Dannevirke.
The death has occurred of Mr Samuel Bowman, aged 66, former Government dairy staff instructor and grader in butter and cheese, states a Press Association message from Dunedin. He was a member of the New Zealand Dairy Board and president of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society. '
The death occurred at, Mangahao of Mr. Frank Worsley Bibby, after a long illness. He was a native of Carnforth, Lancashire, England, and before coming to New Zealand in 1909 was on the clerical staff of the Midland Railway Company. Shortly after arriving in the colony he purchased a farm at Mangahao. In 1919 he married Miss Nellie Mathews, youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs J. D. Mathews. Mr. Bibby was a very successful farmer and was prominently associated with many farming organisations in the Pahiatua district. He was an executive member of the Pahiatua branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, an executive member of the Pahiatua A. and P. Association, a director for many years of the Pahiatua Co-opera-tive Dairy Company; chairman of the Mangahao school committee, patron of the Pahiatua and District Dog Trial Club and a member of the Pahiatua Racing Club. He leaves a widow, a son, Mr John Richard Bibby, and a daughter, Miss Margaret Mary Bibby.
The funeral of the late Mr W. F. Joblin, of Gladstone, which took place in Masterton on Saturday afternoon was largely attended by residents and settlers throughout the Wairarapa district. An impressive service was conducted at St. Matthew's Church by the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich, following which was the Masonic ceremony at the graveside conducted by Mr H. J. Jones. The pall-bearers were Messrs Duncan McGregor. A. C. Smith, E. Wellwood, J. Cooper, J. Kelly and V. Robinson. Among the profusion of floral tributes were wreaths from the following: Wairarapa South County Council, St. Matthew's Vestry, St. Matthew's Boy Scouts, St. Matthew’s Bible Classes, the Epiphany Ladies’ Guild, Masterton Masonic Lodge No. 19, Carterton Women's Institute. Wairarapa Federation of Women's Institutes, the Gladstone Women’s Institute, H. M. Morton and Son. Gladstone Football Club, manager and staff of Messrs Levin and Co., Gladstone Sports Club, and Matarawa-Dalefield Women's Institute.
