DRUNKEN MOTORISTS
A BUSHMAN FINED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, January 5. In the Magistrates’ Court, James William Cadler (33), married, a bushman was fined £2O for having been intoxicated while in charge of a car. His driver’s licence was cancelled for 12 months. That he was a returned soldier and. at the farewell to the First Echelon, had met several of his former comrades in France and had a number of drinks with them was the excuse given by Alexander Lookmun, aged 57, when he appeared before Mr Goulding, S.M., in the Magistrates' Court. Wellington, on a charge of having been intoxicated while in charge of a car. He pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector E. T. C. Turner, who prosecuted, said that at 4 p.m. on Wednesday a car driven by Lookmun struck another vehicle in a city highway and shortly afterwal'd collided with a Irani. Lookmun was under the influence of liquor. “This is an unfortunate lapse," said Mi- Goulding in imposing a fine of £lO, with costs. Lookmun’s licence was cancelled, and he is prohibited from driving till May, 194].
