MORE TRAVELLERS
TRAIN AND ROAD SERVICES WELL PATRONISED. TRAFFIC IN HOLIDAY SEASON. More people appeared to be travelling this Christmas and New Year than was the case in the previous holiday season. No doubt, the Centennial Exhibition in Wellington has some bearing on the increased number of travellers this season. Excellent passenger traffic has been reported on Wairarapa trains. Many trains, both inward and outward, have been crowded and al. times it has been found necessary to provide extra carriages to cope with the demand. There is no doubt, as far as the Wairarapa line is concerned, that, far more passengers have been carried this season than was the ease in the previous Christmas holidays. Two big camps held in Masterion, the Anglican Eible Classes and the Y.W.C.A., _ accounted for a considerable increase in ordinary passenger traffic. Service car traffic also showed an increase compared with last year and additional cars were necessary to meet the position. Road traffic has also been heavy in the Wairarapa and many motorists have visited the district in the course of camping tours.
