FALL FROM WHARF
MAN DROWNED WHILE FISHING. | (By Telegraph—Press Asociation.i WELLINGTON. January 2. While fishing from a crossbeam beneath the Miramar wharf late this afternoon. Harry Addley. aged 21. single, residing with his parents in Resolution Street, Wellington, fell into the water and . in spite of a plucky ! attempt made by another man to res- | cue him, was drowned. The body was ; recovered with the aid of a grappling j iron a short time later. | Accompanied by a youth, Addley had. been fishing from the wharf since early, afternoon. At about 5.40 p.m. the youth heard a splash and on looking round] saw Addley in the water. The youth I immediately called for help and an-| other man whose name could not be'as-1 certained tonight dived into the water] fully clothed. He attempted to reach, the drowning man. who was then well] under the water, but because of the ] depth his effort failed. A'doctor and] four police constables tried artificial: respiration but without success. A.dd-1 ley had been subject'to fits.
