At Invercargill Passaform was in good heart and won the Invercargill Cup, defeating Mona’s Song easily. Te Hai beat Notium in the principal event at Stratford, and Night Dress scored at Oamaru, the sprint going to The Wrecker. Laughing Lass won the Aidworth Stakes at Marton, where four of Mr T. A. Duncan's horses were successful. Flame Queen won the chief race at the Greymouth gathering.
