MAGNIFICENT BEHAVIOUR IN BATTLE. MESSAGE FROM COMMANDER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. December 29. The Governor-General, Lord Galway, has received through the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs, the following telegram from the commanding officer of I-I.M.S. Achilles in reply to one sent by his Excellency: —"The captain, officers and ship's company of the Achilles are most gratified to receive the message of the New Zealand Government and the people. New Zealand may well be proud of the magnificent behaviour of her sons during their first naval battle. Their continued cheerfulness during the longpatrol without shore leave has been equally exemplary. All ranks and ratings on board look forward to further opportunities of enhancing the good work' and the splendid example of the Dominion in the common war effort.” _________________
