A blizzard covered the whole of the earthquake area. Estimates of dead are rocketing. It is stated that thousands are still buried under debris. According to a broadcast from Daventry it is feared the death roll may total 30.000. Sixteen provincial towns with populations from 12,000 to 40.000 and more than ninety villages have been devastated. Martial law has been proclaimed and soldiers are patrolling the station area. BRITAIN’S SYMPATHY CONVEYED TO GOVERNMENT. (Received This Day. 9.45 a.m.) RUGBY. December 29. The British Government has conveyed its sympathy to the Turkish Government in connection with the earthquake disaster in Anatolia.
