Reynaud (Minister of Finance) speaking in the Senate Budget debate, said that during the year the volume of production and export had increased twenty per cent. Unemployment was the lowest for six years. Capital had steadily flowed back to France, £340,000,000 sterling having returned during the year. Social order had been restored. The civil budget would be balanced and all expenditure met by taxation, including £118.000,000 sterling indirect war expenses. Other war loans were being met by Joans.
