A souvenir of more than usual interest to New Zealanders and Masterton people in particular is the above reproduction of a menu autographed at a farewell dinner on the ship which took a number of New Zealand Air Force officers to England last May. Among the signatures are those of Flying Officer F. H. Long, the Masterton officer whose daring flights over Germany have been rewarded by the decoration of D.F.C. Across the right centre of the menu is the signature of Pilot-Officer L. H. Edwards, of Palea, now a prisoner of war in Germany as a result of his plane crashing when the first raid on the Kiel Canal was macle. That raid was the first of eight or nine Hights Flying-Officer Long has now made over enemy territory.
