SENTENCE OF IMPRISONMENT. AN ALFREDTON RESIDENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A sentence of seven days imprisonment was imposed on George Hayes Powell, aged 26, of Alfredton. a tractor driver, on a charge of having been intoxicated while in charge of a car. He was prohibited from driving a car for a year. He was stopped after entering Wellington. Two of the three other occupants were also intoxicated and pleaded that it was just a bad Christmas spree. The Magistrate (Mr Stilwell) replied that the case was just the kind the Act was particularly designed to prevent.
