BENEFICIAL RAIN RACECOURSE IN GOOD ORDER. (“Times-Age" Special.) The recent rain has proved very beneficial to the Tauherenikau racecourse. The track is in splendid order and the garden plots very gay with blooms. The drive in from the entrance has been laid down in bitumen. Popular Camping Spots. Crozier, and Nola Waller, of Wellington, are spending the holidays with Mrs D. M. Jeffrey. Mr and Mrs Vernon Stills, Ashburton, Mr and Mrs Cowling, Palmerston North, Mr and Mrs C. Jeffrey and family, Hawera, are the guests of Mrs W. Jeffrey, Bethune Street. Cottage Destroyed. About 1 a.m. on Sunday a fourroomed cottage in Underhill Road, owned by Mr E. E. O’Neale, was destroyed by fire. The building was insured. BOWLING TOURNAMENT WON BY MASTERTON RINK. The Featherston Bowling Club's annual tournament was held on Boxing Day, the winners being A. Hendry, C. Ewington, W. Hendry, Christian (s). The only team with five wins, they were also leaders in points with a total of 69. Before play commenced Mr J. W. Card, president of the Featherston Club, welcomed the players.
