Dublin was ringed with steel from dawn as the military tightened a cordon in order to ascertain the whereabouts of one million rounds of ammunition stolen on December 23. Armoured cars patrolled the roads and troops examined every passingvehicle. They found a ton of the missing ammunition hidden in Wicklow from which the search extended to Kildare. Carlow and Kilkenny, while Government agents investigated suspected houses in Dublin. Nine members of the magazine guards have been detained pending the conclusion of an inquiry.
