INDIAN CONTINGENT
ARRIVAL IN FRANCE HAS OWN PRIESTS AND COOKS. A SPECIAL FOOD DIET. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, December 27. The first Indian contingent, entirely consisting of Moslems with their own priests, cooks, water-carriers and sweepers, has landed in France under the leadership of British Indian officers. They will wear the Indian winter kit which the authorities are suppementing. The officers are buying livestock, mostly goats, which must be ceremonially slain. There will supplement a special food containing rice, ghee, lentils, flour and tne other ingredients of curries. The British commissariat will supply tea, sugar and vegetables. The transport includes a number of mules. The men will be dispersed in small units in the forward areas. They will be housed in huts which will be subject to the Indian military law.
