CALEDONIAN SPORTS

GATHERING ON NEW YEAR'S DAY. On Monday next, January 1. at the Park Oval, Masterton. the Wairarapa Caledonian Society will hold its sixtysecond annual sports gathering. Providing the weather holds good there should bo a large attendance, since this function has proved a very popular one with the public. No effort has been spared to make this year’s gathering one to be remembered. Besides real Scottish piping and dancing events, including two North Island championships, there appears on the programme a selection of amateur athletic events. All events arc being well patronised by competitors from Wellington, Nelson, Auckland. Feilding, Petone, Palmerston North, Eketahuna. Napier and Masterton. Special events will be conducted for the children and it is the intention of the society to make the day a happy one for competitors and the public alike. The sports are scheduled to commence at 12.30 p.m.
