ON ROAD TO SCREEN FAME
FIVE NEW YOUNGSTERS. In the past few weeks Hollywood has launched five youngsters on the road to screen fame, and all of them seem destined for the movie capital's highest honour, stardom. Two of the newcomers, Linda Ware. 14-year-old singing prodigy, and Linda Darnel], a Texas girl, made splendid debuts in their first screen efforts, while two others, William Holden and 11-year-old Gloria Jean, were little short of sensational.
The fifth member of this quintet is Brenda Joyce, who has the role of Fern in “The Rains Came.” Darryl Zanuck, head of Fox studios, was so impressed with her ability and beauty in the rushes of that film that he has signed her to a long-term contract, and already has her set for another big role in an important film. In past years it was news if Hollywood succeeded in discovering one potential star, but here wo have no less than five all within a few weeks of one another. To people who do not know tfie inner workings of Hollywood this may seen a coincidence, but to those of us who know what goes on behind the scenes of the movie world it is anything but that.
