Boxing Day Race Medings CHEVAL DE VOLEE AGAIN WINS AUCKLAND CUP DAINTY SUE SUCCESSFUL AT AWAPUNI ALMA AND TOP ROW SCORE AT DUNEDIN (BY ■•CARBINE.") At the Auckland Racing Club's meeting yesterday Cheval de Volee repeated his success of last year by winning the Auckland Cup practically from end to end It was a meritorious performance and demonstrated that the victory he achieved last year was no fluke. Royevrus registered a sound effort and just failed to head the winner after attending him closely nearly all the way. Sly Fox came home solidly on the outside for third and King Rey also made a game effort. The chief event at the Manawatu Racing Club’s meeting at Awapuni was won by Dainty Sue, third favourite. Revealing her true form, Dainty Sue drew ahead of her field as they reached the straight,' but had to be ridden right out at the end to avert defeat by the fast-finishing Siegmund. Siegmund came from the rear of the field but Dainty Sue was always near the front except when she was eased a little on the home turn. These two horses finished well clear of the others, the pace-maker, Galteemore, just being able to hold on long enough to get third from Colonel Bogey. Lady Chat won the Amalgamation Hack Cup at Waipukurau, while Alma and Top Row were successful in the principal events at Dunedin.
